One of my patients suggested I needed a pet, and after thinking about it for awhile, I realized they were right. Coming home to empty air is well, a bit depressing and I've even recommended people get pets to help elvate moods and form a companionship. Figured, I should take my own advice.

I had gotten some pretty ridiculous suggestions of a cow or at one point, a peacock, but considering I live in an apartment in New York and I'm fairly certain it's illegal to own a peacock, I went with the boring choice of a cat.

This is Jove and I may have lost my heart to him when I went to the humane society and picked him up.

I'm worried about being able to take care of him, I'm not home very often, but it was suggested that cats were pretty independent creatures and that may work out best. Though I am beginning to wonder if I picked the right cat. He's very affectionate (not that I am complaining).

That's why I couldn't do it. By the time I get home from a long shift at the hospital I'm lucky if I manage to undress properly before I fall asleep, never mind feed and look after a cat.

Maybe he'll calm down? Maybe it's just a new thing or a kitten thing? I don't know a lot about cats.

Neither do I, I had pet birds when I was younger, but they were quite easy. For the last five hours that I have had him, however, it's been immensely fun.
