It had been weeks since Marian had been forcefully brought to live in the castle. Longer than she liked to go without seeing her father. Robin had sneaked a few missives back and forth, but it wasn't the same as seeing him. The want to do so was probably stronger than was healthy.

And so Marian found herself at the castle gate, trying to con one of the more soft hearted guards. "Please David, I wont be gone long enough to be missed, I promise." She batted her long eyelashes at the man. "I feel like a wilted flower, if I don't get some sunshine and fresh air soon I may begin to shrivel." The man stuttered, he was a bit young, still wet behind the ears, unused to pretty women speaking so boldly to him.

Yet before he could say anything he went near white. Looking over her shoulder at something. Glancing back Marian too paled. "Sir Guy." She greeted.

He actually hadn't been out in search of Marian; the less he saw of her the better, at least while his anger still burned within him. True, there were times when he caught sight of her and it made his heart skip a beat, but he quickly pushed any sympathy aside, reminding himself of her treachery.

No, he hadn't been in search of her, but he liked to surprise inspect his men, and it seemed like a good thing. Seeing Marian use her charms on the young guard only served to harden Guy's heart, and he'd strode forward, Marian too busy flirting to hear him step forward.

"Marian," he answered, arms crossing. "You know you're not allowed outside of the castle."

"It has been weeks." She held a faint bit of complaint in her tone. "Weeks since I have seen the sun." Okay so it was an exaggeration. "I do not doubt my horse is bored out of her mind." Marian was bored out of her mind. "Had I known, when you gave her to me, that I would be unable to ride her I wouldn't have accepted it."

Okay so maybe she was whining just a little. But they had not jailed her, he had simply forced her to live there in the castle. Why? She had yet to find out why she was here.

His eyebrow rose at that. Did she think she would get her way by nagging at him? Clearly she did not know him so well. He could have made a sharp retort about how he wouldn't have given her the horse had he known her true self. Instead he bit back the comment, unwilling to lose face in front of the young soldier.

"I did not see you complaining at the time," he settled for. "You are a prisoner, Marian, and you are not free to come and go as you please."
Sep. 2nd, 2011 02:11 am (UTC)
"What am I imprisoned for?" He had yet to answer that. And while she spent every waking moment in the castle she hardly felt like a prisoner. Yet she didn't feel free either.

Marian was going slowly but surely stir crazy. "And I didn't complain because I was allowed to ride her. Then." She crossed her arms over her chest.
Sep. 2nd, 2011 02:22 am (UTC)
"You didn't complain because it was something you wanted," he corrected her, taking her arm and guiding her away from David. The boy was far too susceptible to a pretty smile. Never mind that Marian had, at one point, been quite the blind spot in Guy's vision.

"You are a hostage to ensure your father's continued loyalty," Guy answered, once they were out of earshot. "And to guarantee your own behavior."
Sep. 2nd, 2011 02:42 am (UTC)
"I never asked for it." Yes the horse was beautiful, and yes she did miss the mare, in fact she had spent a good amount of time brushing it. But she never actually asked for any gift he had given her. He had simply given them, in order to woo her.

"Hostage, now, am I?" She would have to be sure that her next missive insured that her father would stay loyal only to King Richard, no matter what happened to her.

"I would have been a fool not to notice how much of a horsewoman you are, Marian," Guy replied. She'd rejected the other baubles, the jewelery and pretty things that would have won over any other woman. He had just progressed to the next natural step.

"That should not be a surprise to you. You shall stay here as long as the Sheriff deems it necessary, and you shall not stray from these walls."

If she could call him anything, positive, he was astute. At least where she came in. "I have to say it isn't one of his smartest ideas." She rolled her eyes up at him. And if it was his idea? It was equally not as smart.

"So I am to become a troll then?"
Sep. 2nd, 2011 03:00 am (UTC)
"You can make of it what you will," Guy answered. "I don't much care one way or another, Marian." She had burned any bridges when she had jilted him at the altar.

"But I will not have you tempting the guards." Hard eyes met hers. "Not only will you be punished, so will they." And anyone she saw after her escape, be it her father, or Hood. He most definitely had his suspicions there.
Sep. 2nd, 2011 03:17 am (UTC)
She squared her jaw. He would punish the innocent party. And that was why she was glad she'd struck him. She'd do it again had she a way to run from the aftermath. So instead she gave him one of the looks that would kill.

"I am glad I found this out now, rather than after, had I followed through." Oh yes she did go there, no she wasn't talking about wooing the guard into letting her out of the gate, but of their wedding.
Sep. 2nd, 2011 12:14 pm (UTC)
He misunderstood, what she was aiming at "Yes, good that you did. I'm sure the guard appreciates it, as well." It was all too easy to manipulate Marian, given her penchant for protecting the 'innocent'. In Guy's mind there were not many of those in the world.
Sep. 2nd, 2011 06:51 pm (UTC)
Of course he would misunderstand. Though she was sure the guard appreciated that she'd been caught, that hardly had been the point. "What's to keep me from leaving of my own accord?" She knew by now that Edward was being watched by what she considered to be the best.
Sep. 3rd, 2011 01:05 am (UTC)
"Besides the guards?" Guy questioned. "I wouldn't try it if I were you, Marian. Where would you go, anyway? To live in the forest with the outlaws?"

He leaned in, looming over her. "I would track you down."
Sep. 3rd, 2011 01:22 am (UTC)
"York, take a new name..." She trailed off. No that wasn't a real idea, she would most like go live in the forest with Robin. Once she hid her father where he couldn't be touched.

She glared up at him as he loomed over her. "How would you manage that? You have yet to catch The Night Watchman, or Robin Hood." Oh yes she was rubbing salt in the wound, her tone icy.
Sep. 3rd, 2011 01:34 am (UTC)
His hand snapped out, grabbing both of her arms, hard. Eyes bored into hers. "You're not an outlaw Marian," he almost smirked. "You're not a rat, running to hide. You would stand out." He could find her anywhere. "And you would never be free of me."
Sep. 3rd, 2011 01:48 am (UTC)
She hissed as he grabbed both of her arms. Her jaw jutting out at him. "Are you so sure? Perhaps I cut off my hair and posed as a boy. Or find a bit of the wood all to myself." Yeah that wouldn't go over well. He would have to search all of sherwood. And she knew how well that had gone with trying to find Robin. Her eyes narrowed. Part of her was daring him to do his worst. Daring him to... do something.
Sep. 3rd, 2011 01:58 am (UTC)
"You can never hide from me," he returned, voice deepening as he pulled her in. "I know you too well, Marian." Without thinking much beyond shutting her up, he pulled her in tightly against him, pressing a long hard kiss to her lips, one that lasted far too long, perhaps. A thought occurred to him, then, as he pulled back, smirking down at her. Before she had been free to refuse him, now she was not. Now she had her father's welfare to take into consideration. Now she was all but his.
Sep. 3rd, 2011 02:05 am (UTC)
He was rather effective with shutting her up. She'd kept tense, drawn up against him, until the final moments. If there was one thing she could say about him... He was a damn fine kisser. She acknowledged she was building a list again. Hadn't he burnt that list the moment he lied to her about the king?

She didn't like that look in his eye. What was he thinking? It couldn't be anything good. She pressed her hands against his chest. "Let me go."
Sep. 3rd, 2011 02:23 am (UTC)
He held her close for a moment longer, unwilling to let he go too quickly. She had liked the kiss, he could tell. Still he eventually let her pull away, smirking all the while.
Sep. 3rd, 2011 02:29 am (UTC)
Marian wasn't entirely sure he was going to let her go. But once she felt his hands loosen she eased her arms out of his hold. "I do not doubt that I could hide from you in this very castle." She knew she was tempting fate, but this was the most excitement she'd had in weeks.
Sep. 3rd, 2011 02:32 am (UTC)
"Are you so sure about that, Marian?" He questioned, voice deep as he took another step toward her, one hand rising to run along her cheek.

"I think I could find you with no issue."
Sep. 3rd, 2011 02:37 am (UTC)
"I am near positive." She did grow up with Robin Hood after all. And being in the castle for three weeks she had pretty much found every nook and cranny available, that wasn't behind locked door or guarded. She didn't even think to pull from him as his hand ran along her cheek.

"What makes you so confident?"
Sep. 3rd, 2011 02:47 am (UTC)
"Because I could sense you," he almost murmured, hand lingering against her skin. Could find her in a dark corner. Dark corners for dark deeds. Or a room with some privacy.
Sep. 3rd, 2011 02:56 am (UTC)
If only she could... "It's that easy, hmm? I could hide anywhere? And you would just... Sense me out? What, like a hound?" she was teasing him, she raised up on her toes, her fingers remaining against his chest. Which forced her to lean into him slightly.
Sep. 3rd, 2011 03:16 am (UTC)
"Like a magnet," he murmured, arm snaking around her waist to pull her in again for another long kiss. Yes, he could get quite used to this, to having her, being pleased by her. She was a temptress and a traitor, of course, but a delicious one.
