Its quite humiliating something when you have to be told to go home by your bosses.  Especially if they take away your favourite quill, blotter and tell you not to come in until Thursday.

I wish I'd thought to copy the last of my research. I don't know what I'll do with all this time.

I'm just worried that I'll lose my train of thought. For the first time in a long time, things were starting to slip into place.
Its..sort of like having something in your head and theres this fear that if you stop thinking about it 24/7 or don't write it down? It'll vanish and never ever come back.

I can do all the above apart from walking a dog. But you've raised a valid point. I haven't been on holiday in forever.

That makes sense. But you're freakishly organized (in a good way), so I'm sure you'll manage to keep it together. Or get it back quickly. Whichever the case may be. Either way, a break's good. You don't want to burn yourself out.

Yeah, I sort of just running through random things. See? Lots of fun things to do.

Thanks! I think if I didn't try and keep myself up on organisation then I'd just get so flustered and flummoxed and never be able to leave the house in case I'd forgotten something.

Burning myself out is never a good thing. I'll try and not spend the weekend at work.

So the theme for the next couple of days is random, fun things? Can I make a list of these things or would that be cheating?

If it works, it works.

I think you need to not go anywhere remotely near where you work this weekend, just in case you get tempted to stop in, and then they have to have security carry you out. Are there such things as restraining orders between people and buildings?

I guess so. I mean you could do random boring things, or random painful things, but that probably wouldn't be beneficial to anyone. Though I think you could make a list, as lists aren't specific to a work environment. Lists are good. As long as you know it's okay to deviate from it, which I'm relatively sure you do.

...

You honestly think they'd escort me from my building? Thats a horrible thought.
What if someone else comes in and they hire them instead of me?

Lists are good! They're great in fact. Deviate? That sounds like fun.

No, I was only kidding. They're not going to randomly hire someone new while you're taking a break that you probably not only need but deserve as well. What were you working on, anyway? If you can't go in and do it you might as well talk about it, I've never known anyone who was a ward-smith aside from you.

I know, it's scandalous. Make sure no one knows you've deviated from your list, they're sure to shun you as a wanton vagabond.

Oh good. I was very worried there.

I was working on the practical application of my thesis. Its something thats never really been done before so every step I make is a huge breakthrough.

Its an interesting job ; nothings ever the same or predictable.

It seemed that way.

Really? That's actually kind of brilliant. I didn't realize it was that...in depth? At least that makes sense of why you'd be locking yourself away at work.

Yeah, I know how that is, at least.

Its great fun though ; I get paid to study Charms, Arithmancy and Old buildings.

I suppose its sort of like crafting a song - or how I'd imagine it would be - lots of ideas gelling together and then having an end product which is something completly independant and ..personal.

If that makes any sense?

It's definitely an advantage to get paid to do something you actually look forward to.

It does make sense. There's a lot that goes into it, and it usually takes a really long time to get it exactly right. Changing even a small element of it can make an entirely different finished product. At least, if you're doing it right. I don't think a lot of people really get that about it.

Sometimes though, going into work when you enjoy it so much feels like cheating.

I don't know much about song crafting ; its always struck me as something like charm crafting. A lot of work and requiring a certain creativity. Organisation I have in plenty, creativity? Not so much.
