I'm going to regret asking this but..

I'm counting down the weeks until the new term starts and I find myself with more hours in the day than I know what to do with. Even factoring in the hours that will be devoted to the World Cup (C'mon England!) I cannot spend my summer cooking and baking for hours.

So to that end, I am offering my services as a Charms tutor for those wishing to brush up on basic skills or improve their current levels. A good grounding in Charms is a valuable life-skill that ought not to be ignored simply because one has left school.

Did I mention that the Cup is starting? I have a mountain of food in the kitchen and nowhere to send it ; my best friends have all been put on strict diets involving food with names like alfalfa and edamame.

Which as a name I actually quite like. Edamame would make a good name for a pet rabbit, right?

It seems a lot of people agree with you. Clearly I've been resisting this for far too long.

I don't know how many he managed to get his hands on, but if I remember correctly he generally buys enough for my family plus several other people because he's under the impression that I'd actually want to subject someone to spending more than an hour with them collectively. But I think you've crossed that river already, so.

It's like a holiday gathering. Except noisier. And with more cursing. Of course I'm basing this off of '90, but that was the last time I went with them so it may be even scarier now.

Mexican wave?

There's little in life more exciting than watching grown up hit bludgers at each other to try and cause as much bodily harm as possible before scoring through a hoop thats fifty feet off the ground.

I ah...sound a bit scary, don't I ?

Right. Thruston family gathering. I can do that. I fought in a Battle. I'm made of strong stuff

I remember 1990. Epic. I lost my voice for a week after going the matches. Will the kids be there?

I'll show you! Its fun

Just a bit. I'll fight the urge to run and hide next time I see you.

That's very...intense. I think I had fun a little, but I mostly didn't want to be there and was surly the whole time. I chalk it up to being fifteen and full of teenage angst. I kept trying to read something and getting angry that I couldn't focus with all the noise.

Yeah, they ought to be, Marnie and Ken are both going. I think dad would kill them if they didn't induct Jane and Lucas into Quidditch fanaticism as young as possible.

I'm sure.

That would put a spanner in the workings of our living arrangements.

I can't imagine you as a tall, gangling angsty teenager. Did you wear black and write poems?

The idea's actually sort of adorable.

Right. Child quidditch indoctrination. Can I feed them sugar and ice cream and let your sister deal with it?

It would be like an obstacle course.

Hm. I wasn't tall by then. I think Marnie was actually taller than me still I don't think I got taller until sometime during sixth year. And no. I dunno I might've worn black sometimes but I wasn't one of those kids. I just seemed to think it'd be more fun to read about sleeping draughts than watch Quidditch and I sort of still do.

You could. I can assure you I'd sit back and laugh.

Excellent. Lets plot!

And do you think your dad would have pics?

Move all the sofas. Into the middle of the living room. Hang Seven from the ceiling. Put Eight in one of the kitchen drawers so that he pops out at random. Charm the fireplace to shoot clouds of ash. Lots of banister sliding. I am fresh out of ideas, please continue.

No. He wouldn't.

Teach the parrot to sing Celestina?

This requires research. And research means Weasleys Wizard Wheezes.

Wax the floor with grease instead of polish? Put itching poweder into the sugar bowl? Clingfilm under the toilet lid?

I'd rather just take away his ability to speak at all.

Putting itching powder in the sugar bowl will ruin my coffee! This obstacle course has crossed the line from inconvenient into disgusting.

You love it really.

You have no sense of adventure. I took points from so many pranksters whilst I was Head that I picked up some ideas of what not to do.

You probably took notes. The secret to your success.
