Ten years ago today, Cedric Diggory was killed by a Death Eater.
He was good and kind and brave. He was a Quidditch captain, a Prefect, a Triwizard Champion. He was a true Hufflepuff. He was my best friend.
He was seventeen.
Some of you knew him, most of you knew of him. Please take a moment today and remember him. For those that wish to lay flowers or tributes, please bring them to the statue on Hogwarts' grounds, and respect the Minister's privacy at this time. Thank you. |

It's good to see the Prophet offices up and running well again. Unfortunately, the progress on repairing the Minister's offices hasn't been going as smoothly. There was heavy structural damage, but there has been tireless efforts by our wonderful maintenance crew to have us reinstated before the end of this week. Please join me in expressing gratitude. |

Shit, shit, shit.
Right, I think I've covered it all. I made sure one of her friends was contacted immediately. The report said that the first-aid spell had held up, she hadn't bled out or anything. But... fuck, why did the Obliviation go so badly? I've never... I've always done it right, I'm good at... doing that. I don't understand why it messed up. Well, I managed to wipe me, that much is sure, but why is her mind so messed up? I... I don't understand. Was it because she fought it so hard? Or because she was using Occulumency at the same time? I've never even heard of it going like this, damaging the mind so much.
Too late now.
I've deleted the comments we made to each other in the journals. Managing the clearance for that was a nightmare, but I'm sure no one noticed. That should be the last of it. The only thing I can't do anything about is if she mentioned me to her friends... Fuck. It's okay, hopefully, the blanks of her mind will explain that. It still doesn't implicate me.
I need someone to wipe this from my memory now. I can't fucking sleep.

It is horrible that the day supposed to be a celebration of peace was ruined by the determination to wreak havoc of monsters that still lurk in our society. These are the reasons we have implemented our preventative measures, and are the reasons we will continue to, in our quest to root out the people responsible for this senseless chaos. These should be our country's golden years, a time when our children and families should be able to enjoy a concert without fear. Instead, dozens of people were injured. It is ridiculous. |
