One of the things the Compound has taught me is to be thankful that somewhere there is a version of me that was happy all throughout their lives. They didn't go through what I went through and were able to live their life [...] normally.

What I'm trying to say is that it's just a version of you. It doesn't make it hurt any less, but it's not what's in store for you. I don't know what the other versions of myself have felt when they listen to or hear my story, but for me I'm glad that they didn't have to endure the games.

	I lost my best friend the year before my games; he was the closest thing I had to a brother. You put one foot in front of the other, but you're right. You can never get that piece of yourself back. Have you seen anything that was fun to see? I saw my son being born. I wouldn't call that fun, but - well. It was good to see. Experience is the best teacher. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

I have seen some good things. My first go doing the games training I wasn't myself, I was just some generic girl, I guess. The training was interesting. So it wasn't as painful. And there's been good memories of my own, with my family and with friends from home.
