Beauty fades, stupidity is forever.

[Neville]
Where have you been, boy? You're very quiet and I can't say I like it. Accompany me to an art auction tonight, I want to hear your latest news.

[Pettigrew]
So nice to see The Daily Prophet hitting the hard news this morning. It turns out I'm a November, and my spirit animal is a water vole. I look forward to tomorrow's issue immensely.

Beauty endures; you only have to change your perspective. Coincidentally, that is something the stupid often find difficulty in doing.

Ah, the doe-eyed, half-baked philosophies of youth. Such insight, Lord Lysander.

[Lord Lysander]
King Orion tells me you are to be the new press secretary. Why?

The queen requested that I serve the crown, and I accepted my duty. I couldn't tell you why she chose me, but I hope to prove worthy.

Hmm, no. I have no idea why the Queen is interested in the eldest son of Chief Yaxley. Just be sure to grow eyes in the back of your head -- quickly. Do so, and then you can focus on proving yourself.

What about those of us blessed with charming good looks and are still clever?

I mean, just look at you.

I hope to see you when I bring my wife out for dinner, I think she could use a night out.

A true but disappointing reality, Lady Longbottom. Unlike beauty, elegance and wit are cultivated.

Wit beyond measure is a man's greatest treasure, and so on and so forth. Doesn't get one as far in life as beauty, though, at least not on its own.

All creatures are disposed to what they deem beautiful or alluring. Elves love bobbles and multi-coloured flowers, goblins covet things that glitter, and we wizards not only value attractiveness but powerintelligence. I think if one has both, well, they do go a great deal many places; but, how one endures the great march of time is how they cultivate their natural talents and apply them because as you said: beauty fades. To just rest on the laurels of attractiveness is simply foolish. Wouldn't you agree, Lady Longbottom?

Is that your usual line, Pettigrew? If so it's terribly dull, much like today's article on Kneazle fur maintenance. I may have a few leads, if you are interested...

If you're unhappy with my paper, you are more than welcome to read the highbrow ramblings of the Quibbler or take the "which member of Spellbound are you?" quiz in Witch Weekly.

I'm always interested.

I would argue that people can improve, provided they are willing to learn from their mistakes. But then again, it takes a certain amount of wisdom, intelligence and humility to admit that improvements need to be made.

And even if they are wise enough to admit that improvements need to be made, they seldom ever see it through. However, in spite of my previous statement, what a dull world it would be if everyone were perfect.

Perfection is overrated and everyone has a slightly different idea of what perfection means anyway. It's much more interesting to see gradual progress and improvement as one learns from one's mistakes.
