Beauty fades, stupidity is forever.

Where have you been, boy? You're very quiet and I can't say I like it. Accompany me to an art auction tonight, I want to hear your latest news.

[Pettigrew]
So nice to see The Daily Prophet hitting the hard news this morning. It turns out I'm a November, and my spirit animal is a water vole. I look forward to tomorrow's issue immensely.

I'm not questioning his character, Pettigrew, but the Kingdom is filled with other charismatic and likable individuals. Individuals with experience, who know how to play the game.

Yes yes, no need to be coy. There is obviously another reason the Queen selected the boy to be the new press secritary. The reason, I'm afraid, eludes me.

I've never been coy in my life, Pettigrew. And the reason eludes you? Here I was thinking you knew everything...How very disappointing.

Neither do you, which is equally disappointing. And just because I do not know now, does not mean I will not soon know.

Ah, now. I didn't say that I didn't know the reason; I merely asked your opinion on the matter. I'm satisfied with the result.

Your implied dialogue would suggest you don't know either. So either you do know or you are being coy. Either way, I'm afraid I do not have time for games of "who knows what."

As I said, I've never been coy in my life. And of course you don't. You're terribly busy approving articles on Kneazles and how thick one's cauldron bottom should be.

You pay so close attention to my paper, Augusta. Why, I wonder, when there is obviously so little of interest to you?

Are you going to share the reason Lord Lysander has been made press secretary or do you just like speaking with me? Because I must say, you are a bit old for me.

Kneazles make me sneeze, but who said I wasn't interested in cauldron bottoms? Don't play the fool.

I could share, of course, but really I'm quite interested in seeing if you can figure it out for yourself. I hear you're such a clever little fellow, but don't flatter yourself.

See? My tatttered rag of a paper is useful to you after all.

You mean besides appointing someone Sirius won't sleep with? I'm not so sure. Sirius is very free-spirited.

I thought I told you not to flatter yourself, Pettigrew.

It beggars belief, but there are dozens of people in this Kingdom that your dear friend won't sleep with, no matter how free a spirit he may be. And most are far better suited to this job than our little Lysander. Try again and then get back to me.

No flattery involved, just stating the facts.

I'll get back to you. Although I do have something of interest.

You know, Mr Pettigrew. I'm starting to find you quite amusing.

Something of interest, you say?

I also find myself amusing.

Ah ah. Matters such as these should be discussed without a very much traceable journal between two. Tea? My treat, of course.

Yes, you've always been rather impressed with yourself.

Your treat, indeed. Wednesday is my earliest availability, just name the place.
