031; 31 December 1980.
This is very likely the last entry that I will write in this book during the year 1979. While I have not lived as long as some on these journals have done, a thorough study of history shows that while one may believe a particular year has held more distress or delight than another - in truth these are frequently personal reflections. A year that is remembered in the history books as dreadful may have been a year that was very good in a personal way and of course a year remembered in the history books for good, may well have been the most challenging year an individual has faced.

For me 1979 has brought very good things, and it has also brought sorrows. In a greater or lesser extent, I suppose each year provides the same.

[Warded Private]

A son.

I will have a son.

A week later and I still have not fully wrapped my mind around this gift. I will forever remember 1979 as the year I got the news that the Nott line will continue. Despite our losses, it has been a good year.

And young Regulus seems to have grown up with his engagement and the death of his Father. It is hardly a pleasant way to grow up, but I am pleased with his progress.

[Warded to Lucia]
I know we will want to wait perhaps another few weeks - but when would you like for us to announce your pregnancy to our friends? I was wondering about the end of January?

And you are feel healthy still?

[Warded to Mina]
And has 1979 been good for you?

[Warded to Death Eaters]
A new year is upon us, but we have not finished our work. Some of you may have a great disdain for New Year's Resolution, and indeed I have disdain for those that are made and forgotten barely a week into the New Year, but I would ask that each of you consider what work you have done for our lord throughout this past year and what you may change or improve upon in the new year. I will certainly do so.

I thought the latter half of the year was rather nice as well. Do you suppose I could see your beautiful face this week?

I suppose that it might grace you with its presence. Which evening is best for you?

Oh that is very good news indeed, as I have missed it exceedingly.

Perhaps Monday evening after eight? I have a new book of poetry that is making me think of you.
