012; 15 October 1979.
[Warded to Inner Circle]

I have been working on a project with the permission of our Lord and believe it is time for us to all begin to discuss it in more detail.

In short, I have felt that the Outer Circle needs more direct guidance. While most whom have been in His service for longer are well prepared, there are still many who have been within his ranks only a year at most. My proposal to the Dark Lord was that those of us whom are among his inner circle would undertake the training and responsibility of those in the Outer Circle.

It would be our responsibility to keep our eyes on those whom are our Mentees. We would train specifically with them, look for weaknesses, and work to encourage more appropriate behaviour publicly when necessary. Although they would continue to answer to all of us, they would have the direct guidance of one of us in order to settle them and help them best learn to serve His will.

In preparation for this, I have begun working with names and considering how rightly to place these individuals in order to best facilitate their learning. For the moment, I have come up with some initial placements. I am of course, open to your suggestions or improvements. Naturally, all final decisions will be made by our Lord.

[Warded to Lucia]
Will you ensure that Laelia has an appropriate costume regardless of what Mother may or may not have ordered? I am afraid Mother's expectations may be somewhat unlikely.

Also I have business Friday evening; you need not plan dinner for me.

[Warded to Mina]
For Friday:

The Lainsborough off Diagon Alley. 7pm. Give your name to the maitre'd. He will be expecting you.

[Warded Private]
Rabastan Lestrange.

It would actually be a marriage up, he has more maturity on him than Regulus and is a stronger servant to our Lord. I do not know why this is only now occurring to me.

I feel somewhat like a schoolgirl when I cart them around, and I don't think I wish to feel anything near that tomorrow evening when I meet you.

Well I should hardly desire you to be uncomfortable tomorrow evening. I will simply have to meet you another time when I can sign them as promised. I am, after all, a man of my word.

That, I suppose, is a hardship that I will steadfastly weather.

It will not be too much for you?

I am not a person to half-commit to chance.

Quite good.

Curiosity does get the better of me, Mina. Have you spoken to any one else about our meetings?

I did not think it prudent.

No, nor I. I have been enjoying our meetings far too much. Discussion will only lead to the cruelty of old gossips with nothing to do but focus on the destruction of other people's lives; I would rather continue to grow our friendship without that scrutiny.

I dislike undue attention and I wouldn't wish for our friendship to be the cause of negative focus, nor would I wish for your personal life to be more well-read than your academic works. I think it would be wise to continue as we are.

I suspected this about you - a bit ironic considering that when you sing you are the focus of everyone in the room, and how could you be anything but with your talent?

You are as wise and prudent as you are beautiful. I am very much looking forward to Friday night. Will you be missed too terribly if I keep you late?

You're flattery is too great. Strangely singing in front of people has never bothered me. But I could never be a public speaker; I'd shake off the stage. I don't know how you speak on the Wireless or hold readings of your works.

I can think of several things that would feasibly keep me late. I live with my sister, Nora, and while she's curious she will drop a subject if I ask.

Ah, but flattery would be insincere, and I am anything but, therefore I argue that they are merely complements.

I shall let you with the singing, and I with the readings then. To begin with nobody would ever have any desire to hear me sing a tune - or attempt to rather, and to conclude I would be far less confident in the attempt of it.

You immerse yourself in your music, do you not? It feels that way when I listens to you -- as if there is nothing you would rather be doing than living within that particular moment and sharing that delight with your audience. Similarly I immerse myself in my writing, the philosophy and history.

Then I will attempt to not keep you too late, but if you have a curfew you should tell me now.
