Basic Info Real Name: Katherine Anne Pryde Nicknames: Kitty, Kit Affiliation: n/a Occupation: Student Education Level: Some high school Physical Age/Birthdate: 18/March 21 Height: 5’1” Build: Tiny, in every way. Hair: Brown and on the long side, usually either pulled up into a ponytail or parted on the left. Eyes: Brown Appearance: The first thing that you would probably notice about Kitty is that she’s very small. She’s just barely over five feet tall and weighs next to nothing. On top of being a very petite person in general, she has a very young face. She has freckles (more in the summer) and is often smiling. Having practiced intimidating looks in the mirror, Kitty is able to come off as at least something edging more toward menacing when she wants to. When it comes to her dress style, Kitty is generally more concerned with being comfortable than she is with looking super hot. She favors jeans and t-shirts with comfortable shoes and is completely useless in high heels. She will occasionally wear skirts or dresses when out of uniform, but most of her friends still act all shocked like total jerks when she does. She recently acquired a completely unnecessary Starfleet insignia tattoo on her chest. Played By: Ellen Page Powers, Abilities and Stats Mutant Powers: Kitty has the ability to make herself intangible, allowing her to move through solid objects by basically moving through the spaces between the atoms of other substances. Using her power, she is able to move up or down through solid matter for an indeterminate length of time. She can remain phased and “inside” an object for as long as she is able to hold her breath. The denser a substance is, the harder it is for her to pass through it. Adamantium is incredibly draining and phasing through it for more than a couple of seconds is painful. When Kitty phases through electrical systems such as computers, she disrupts the flow of atoms and renders them completely useless. This makes using a comm.. device on missions an exercise in futility for her, as it will undoubtedly end up as a fizzling and broken little piece of junk. She does not have the same effect on bio-electric systems such as the brain. Kitty has recently discovered that she is able to use her powers to “walk” through the air, and is still trying to figure out the limits of that particular power. When Kitty is phased, she is safe from all physical attacks and it is harder for telepaths to read her, but definitely not impossible. Generation: First Hearing: Selective, but good Eyesight: Good Dexterity/Agility: Pretty dang good. Physical Strength: Stronger than she looks, but not superhuman. General Health: Great IQ: Genius Mental Health: Good Skills: Kitty is a computer science whiz kid. She’s good at programming, as well as taking computers apart and putting them back together without destroying them. She has built quite a few computers for herself and for friends. She figured out the holographic training room pretty quickly and has written a number of programs for it as extra credit. Not that she’s really needed extra credit. She speaks the ever helpful language of Hebrew at an acceptable but not fluent level, and is working on learning Japanese. She can also butcher her way through conversations in Spanish, but most of that is just adding -o to the end of words and hoping that it makes sense. She’s also a pretty good dancer, as her mother made her take lessons for a long, long time. Kitty’s theory is that her mom thought that she was going to become a graceless nerd. She's a decent juggler and is an accomplished air-guitar player. Thanks to her ability to pick things up quickly, she’s become very good at martial arts. She’s not a ninja or anything, but she’s a lot more skilled at it than someone just looking at her would think. So… you know. Don’t mess with her. Herpetology?) School Team(s): Fencing Activities & Clubs: National Honors Society, Martial Arts, Tutoring, Debate. Background Family: Carmen and Theresa Pryde, parents. Samuel Prydeman, grandfather. Religion: Jewish History: Kitty was born in Deerfield Illinois, a small village about 45 minutes outside of Chicago. She was an only child, and lived in a relatively boring suburban home with her parents and her paternal grandfather, Samuel. Her early childhood wasn’t particularly eventful; she played with children in her neighborhood, was doted on by family, and loved going to school. Even at a very young age, she showed a lot of potential in academics. Her father worked as a lawyer in the city, and it was through the urging of one of his clients that Kitty’s family first really considered sending her to the Xavier Academy. Even though the school she was attending in Deerfield was an excellent place, Kitty was more advanced than the other students in her class and was becoming bored easily. So after a lot of deliberation and worrying and stressing, as well as quite a bit of wheel greasing, string-pulling and favor calling from some of her father's connections, her parents decided to send her to New York. Carmen already spent some time in NYC on business monthly, so it wasn’t as though she would be completely out of touch with them. She began studying at the Academy in second grade, and almost immediately made friends with Bobby Drake, one of the other students. They were the two kids in class who always had their hands up first, and seemed to be the only ones who realized that math was actually kind of fun. Kitty absolutely loved being at the Academy, as much for the academics as for the fact that she often got to see some pretty awesome things from the powered students. Though she did hope that someday she’d get powers as well, she was fully aware that she was there for primarily academic reasons. There were no powered individuals in her family that she knew of, so she hadn’t been admitted in anticipation of manifestation, as many of the others had. By the time eighth grade rolled around, many of her classmates had manifested or were clearly headed toward manifestation. Kitty, lucky her, started getting migraines. She knew that migraines could be the precursor to manifesting powers, but she also knew that she spent an inordinate amount of time in front of computers (the school's network wasn't going to try to hack itself, after all), and wasn’t quite ready to decide that she would also be powered until there was some kind of actual power happening. When she woke up from a dream where she’d felt like she was falling and found herself in the bed of a very startled student on the floor below hers, she realized that maybe the headaches weren’t just related to her awful posture and squinting at bright screens. At first she thought that maybe she could teleport, but she figured it out a few days after the first incident, when instead of hitting a door as it closed in her face, she walked right through it. She quickly decided that it was actually a lot cooler than teleporting, and she immediately started trying to figure out as much about it as she possibly could. It didn’t take long for Kitty to get the hang of what it was she could do, and as she became more experienced with her powers, she also became increasingly grateful that she had manifested. As she continued to experiment with her powers, she kept on with her studies, earning high marks and participating in extracurriculars. She was a member of both the computer and technology clubs, until she realized that they were not really doing anything for her except for giving her a chance to sit around and listen to people who had no idea what they were talking about babble on, mindlessly reciting things they’d read online. She had better things to do with her time, like help run a black market snack mafia, so she decided to just bow out. Kitty is now in her senior year of high school, and is fully planning on sticking around at the Academy for college. She is already taking computer classes at the university, and has been given the go-ahead to do an independent study project her freshman year regarding the operations of the holographic facility. She’s been toying with the idea of going into the SHIELD program if she's asked to when she turns eighteen, but isn’t sure that the military is really where she wants to be. Even if they do get to walk around looking like they go to Starfleet Academy. She has time to figure it out, and weigh her options. They might not even ask her. Either way, she knows that she’s going to stick around for at least the next few years. Personality: Kitty is a very social person. She loves meeting new people and learning their stories and becoming their friends. She is conscious of personal boundaries, though, and won’t push if you’re not the friendly type. Well, she won’t push too much. Even though she is social, she is not excessively, annoyingly perky. She is just as happy being sarcastically amusing as she is being bubbly and often mixes the two. She is opinionated but very conscious of her words and is usually good at knowing when to share her thoughts and when to keep her mouth shut. Sometimes, though, her emotions do get the better of her and she blurts things out. She usually feels super bad afterward, unless she did it on purpose. She might pretend to feel bad anyway, though. Kitty is a very intelligent girl. She is also quite fond of a good debate and will often egg people on just a little bit to get a nice conversation going. She sometimes tends to dumb herself down because she feels like it makes people like her more… even if she doesn’t really actively think that. However, once she gets going on something science or politics related, she will not shut up or stop to explain things that people might not understand unless asked to and even then she will only sometimes pause long enough to do it. Mannerisms and quirks: Kitty reads. A lot. And if you talk to her when she's reading, she's trying hard not to ignore you, but usually failing. She is opinionated, and even though she knows when it's the right time and the wrong time to share said opinions, sometimes she chooses to forget. Also, if she has a clicky-top pen? She will be clicking it incessantly.
