Bio: | Player Info Name: Jaycee Email Address: witherthougoest at gmail dot com IM/MSN Username: witherthougoest Basic Info Real Name: Elijah Bradley Nicknames: Eli Affiliation: n/a Occupation: Cadet Education Level: some college Physical Age/Birthdate: 18, (7/4) Height: 5’11” Build: Unlike his grandfather and uncle, Eli’s not particularly large, but he is solid. Broad shoulders, narrow hips, very good muscle definition. Hair: Black, but he keeps his head shaved Eyes: Brown Appearance: Eli’s...sturdy, is probably the best way to put it. He’s not particularly large, but it’s all solid muscle. He kind of wishes he were taller, like his grandpa and uncle, but he’s almost given up hope on that. He’s neat to the point of being just about OCD about it and no matter what he’s wearing it’s always pressed, buttoned, tucked, and cuffed. When not in full uniform he’s generally in black BDUs, when completely out of uniform it’s jeans or cargoes, and casual button downs over t-shirts. Played By: J. August Richards Powers, Abilities and Stats Powers: Eli’s strength is enhanced sufficient to lift approximately one ton and he can run a mile in just over a minute, as well as exert himself at peak capacity for about three hours before he begins to tire. He is superhumanly durable, and can withstand falls from great heights as well as powerful impacts and high caliber bullets without injury. His hearing is enhanced to the point he can hear exceptionally quiet conversations meant only for the participants’ ears a room away behind closed doors. His healing, while not on par with a true ‘healing factor’, is enhanced to the point where he heals from injury much faster than a normal human. Eli’s agility, balance, reflexes and coordination are also beyond the natural physical limits of the finest athlete. Adapted from here Generation: Third Hearing: Superhuman Eyesight: excellent Dexterity/Agility: superhuman Physical Strength: superhuman General Health: perfect IQ: Bright, with a particular bent for strategy - he might not be top of the class in math or physics (though he’ll bust his ass to get as close to it as he can), but he can probably beat you at chess, Risk, etc.... Mental Health: stable, though he’s more than a bit intense Skills: Elijah’s an excellent marksman, both with firearms and with thrown projectiles, and a gifted strategic thinker. He’s got a particular knack for remembering historical trivia. School Life School: Cadet Year: Freshman Years at Xavier's: Thirteen and a half Relatives Attending: none, his half brother and sister are at the SF campus Dorm: House, Floor, Room Number. TBD Roommate(s): Piotr Pet: n/a School Team(s): n/a Activities & Clubs: paintball club, history club, martial arts club, newspaper Background Family: Sarah Gail Edwards (mother, powered), Isaiah Bradley (grandfather, powered), Faith Bradley (grandmother, minor telekinetic), Josiah Bradley (uncle, powered), Stephanie Edwards (sister, unpowered so far), Letigious Edwards (brother, unpowered so far), Marshall Edwards (step-father, powered) Religion: agnostic History: Eli comes from a long-established and prominent family of powered humans. In the years following World War II his grandparents, Isaiah and Faith, were among the earliest activists for powered rights and integration. As African Americans, though, they found they didn’t have nearly the influence in the movement that their white associates did and, while they were proud of their successes, they shifted more of their focus to the nascent Civil Rights movement. Progress was somewhat slower to come on that front, but come it did, and as more and more powered children have been born each year in every ethnic group, and the powered population has edged closer and closer towards becoming a majority in the U.S., factors such as race have become less and less of an issue. And so in an atmosphere of slowly growing equality, when their own children were born Isaiah and Faith decided it was time to return to the movement where they’d first met. It seemed almost certain that their children would be powered as well, and they wanted to ensure that their experience was one of integration and acceptance of all aspects of their heritage. Isaiah finally accepted a long standing offer from his old comrade in arms, Steve Rogers, to join S.H.I.E.L.D. and Faith took a position as a librarian at the adjoining Academy, which was already developing a reputation for both academic excellence and the promotion of social equality between all of its students, regardless of their power (or ethnic) status. When they came of school age both Josiah and Sarah were enrolled at the Academy, where they did well and looked to follow in their parents footsteps, though Sarah’s plans were derailed for a while by an unplanned pregnancy and a deadbeat father, who has never been any part of her or Eli’s life since. With the support of her parents, though, she finished her education and became a teacher at the Academy after her own graduation, while her brother followed their father’s footsteps into S.H.I.E.L.D., where he’s had a successful career as an Agent on international assignment. Isaiah had mostly retired from field work by then, but he accepted what was supposed to be one last assignment when Eli was too young to even remember. He and his partner were double crossed by a contact they’d been assured they could trust, and were captured and interrogated under torture, both physical and (clumsy) telepathic. Neither of them broke, but by the time they were found and rescued Isaiah’s partner, Jack Harvey, had died, and Isaiah’s mind had been so badly damaged that , despite extensive healing and (failed) attempts at telepathic therapy, he’s capable only of very simple, stilted speech to this day and has never recovered past the mental state of a six year old. His memories, though, do seem to be locked in there somewhere and he has never had any difficulty remembering or recognizing his family, though his memory of friends can be a bit more hit and miss. Faith retired from her position as head of circulation for the Academy’s library so that she could take care of him full time and the Bradley family’s life moved on. Steve Rogers and some of his other old friends and colleagues visit regularly, out of love and respect, and to maintain the connection as best they can and reminisce about old times in hopes of someday jogging something more loose. Eli’s never known his grandfather any other way and, while he’s listened attentively to the stories of his grandfather’s past exploits told by some of the ‘greatest’ men and women of their time as they’ve visited his family home over the years, he loves and respects him for the loving giant of a man he still is as much or more than for the hero he once was. He still visits his grandparents at their house in town at least once a week, sometimes more often, and spends hours telling his grandfather about his life and what’s going on in the world, reading to him, or playing simple boardgames with him. When Eli was nine his mother met, and eventually fell in love with, Marshall Edwards, an admissions officer for the Academy, and when he was eleven they were married. Marshall is a good man, and Eli is fond enough of him in his way, but the greatest influence in his life has always been his grandparents. He loves his family, and especially his younger half siblings, but when Marshall was offered the position as head of admissions for the school in Seattle when Eli was sixteen he chose to stay behind while the rest of the family moved. He writes to his mother weekly and emails, IMs and skypes with his siblings two to three times a week, as well as spending some portion of the summer holidays with them as well, while they generally return to New York for Christmas and Thanksgiving. Eli’s always done well in his studies, though it’s more a result of being a driven, type A personality than any particular genius. He’s not dumb by any stretch of the imagination, but he has to work for his grades and work he does. He wants very much to make his grandfather and his uncle proud and to someday follow in both of their footsteps as an Agent, despite - or maybe because of - what happened to his grandfather. He’s very much inherited his grandmother’s love of books, and in high school he volunteered in the library a few times a week, but now that he’s in the cadet program there’s not really enough time for that if the wants to make sure to stay at (or at least near) the top of his class. Personality: Eli is incredibly loyal, dedicated and can be intense to the point of being more than a little abrasive. He tends to be convinced that he is right about everything that matters to him, and can come off as having a bit of a chip on his shoulder. His sense of humor can also, at times, seem a bit under-developed and he’s made bickering into an art form. It’s just the way he’s wired. Fundamentally, though, he’s a good guy and he’s actually both incredibly patient and very tolerant of everything short of active douchbaggery and wilful ignorance. But being an Agent someday and doing the right thing are his highest priorities…and he’s more than willing to run roughshod over anyone whose idea of what the right thing is doesn’t coincide with his. He’s a workaholic and spends a huge amount of his nominally free time studying or training. With a little prodding from the right people, though, he’ll take a break to play board or video games or watch a movie (especially bad B horror and scifi). And if you get him going he’ll debate the merits of Star Trek vs Star Wars (so long as you agree the SW prequels suck) until hell freezes over. He doesn’t smile as much as he probably should, but when he does it’s broad and bright and whole-hearted. Mannerisms and quirks: He sometimes runs his hand over his head and down the back of his neck when he’s thinking. Likes: Science fiction (especially Asimov and early Heinlein), some adventure fantasy, history, military and political history, books and reading in general, working out, bad B movie marathons, arguing with interesting people Dislikes: Historical fiction (seriously? Is there any actual HISTORY in that shit?), the whacko anti-’mutant’ fringe and anyone who clings to out-dated prejudices, sappy movies, cafeteria meatloaf, anyone who ever makes fun of his grandfather Relationships: Friends: He’s been there forever, so open to pretty much anyone compatible Enemies: as above Marital status: single Past Relationships: n/a Present Relationships: n/a Planned Relationships: n/a Sexual Preference: pretty much kinsey 1 levels of straight Info at a glance: Eli’s bald. Very very bald. His uniform is always immaculate and his civvies are always neat and pressed. He generally has a book with him unless he’s training.
