It's International Geek Pride Day. Who wants to have a Star Trek: The Next Generation marathon?

Official Announcements:
  • As of this moment posting access of all students to the X-Server has been revoked indefinitely. You will still be able to read since I've been informed that a few teachers use it give out assignments, but no posting or commenting will be allowed.
  • Also, beginning tomorrow afternoon the danger room will be shut down as I work on upgrading security and entrance procedures. This shouldn't take more than a few days at most. Sorry about the inconvenience.

So something I was working on before everything went crazy is finally ready for everyone. I have simulation for the danger room that takes place on Mustafar. It's a lightsaber battle tournament.

Kitty and I test drove it yesterday. It's perfect. Although Kitty cheats. Her feet touched the lava, and she won't admit it.

iPad. I can't believe they're calling it an iPad. I know words like slate and tablet make something sound ancient, but the name iPad is a flop.

... I'll probably still get one eventually, because I'm a new tech sucker.

I'm back, well I've been back, but I'm only just getting to this. Vegas was fine. Just like I thought, bright lights and kind of trashy. Thanks for the ticket, Dani.

Important Announcement:
  • First, new students, I'm Doug Ramsey. I'm the be all and end all of all technology around this place. If you have any issues computer issues only please, you can come by my office during the day, I'm usually in there. It's the one that looks like it's filled to the brim with junk, but it is not junk. Unless you have some out of control water based powers. In that case, I'm coming to you.

  • Secondly, now that student squads have been sussed out, I'm going to pose this question to all the students. Last semester John talked to the blue team about the sorts of danger room scenarios they'd enjoy having. The pirate one is still fairly new, but I'm taking suggestions for new ones. The Blue team's suggestions were the following: Star Wars (minus the trash compactor), Aliens, Buffy, some sort of war scenario. If you have any ideas let me know.

  • Also, just a reminder: downloading pirated material is illegal and against the rules. And I'm kind of offended that you guys are so bad at it.
Not very important announcements:
  • I'm extremely proud that it looks like no one touched my mini-fridge or drank my Redbull like they did the last time I was out of town.

  • However, my poptarts are gone. This is not good.

  • Also, if you do catch me with caffeine, you're allowed to question me on how much I've had. My new years resolution is to cut down on my caffeine intake, but not quit, since I'm fairly sure if I went cold turkey my heart might explode or something.

OK so guess what I got from my parent's attic tonight? My SNES with games... Legend of Zelda, all three Donkey Kong Countries, Super Mario World, Super Mario All-stars, ect, ect.

This means there's definitely going to be a retro video game night. Some of the files still have saved games. We can pick up from were I was in 1995 when I was nine.

Also, it's last minute, but I'll be out of town for New Years. Dani wins at most random Christmas gift ever.

I'll be in Vegas, and I'll be back on the 2nd.

Guys, I've decided I'm getting turtles. Who wants to go to the pet store with me?

Also, going to see Avatar. So I won't be around tonight.

This is why I'll work for google or something before NASA. I can't wrap my head around that.

Anyway. I got back to the mansion this morning. And I will spend the rest of my weekend attempting to freaking track down an anonymous freaking money trail and going through the financials after hacking into Creed's campaign accounts banking history. I mean I don't know what's more disgusting large corporate donations of companies that have their own agendas or all the ten and twenty dollar donations from bigots around the country who decided Creed's grassroots campaign was for them. raiding.

Unless anyone has a sudden urge to play Rock Band.

Business as usual on Monday.

X-people (as in teams) [Oct. 31st, 2009|01:46 pm]
Alright, so I found no indication that your system was hacked. A good hacker does know how to cover their tracks, but I tend to use some rather unique code for that very reason, and it doesn't look to have been disturbed or rewritten or anything. I think someone in the police chief or mayor's offices found some info and had a big mouth.

Of course, that doesn't mean you weren't hacked. I'm just 99% sure you weren't. The thing is that I'm one of the best at what I do, but I could build the best system the world had ever seen, but there are a few people who could get past it without a trace. Sort of like Sarah Vale at school. She could waltz in and never leave a trace that she was there. Of course, said person would have to know that there's a system there to be hacked.

Having just gotten it, installed it, and spent some time playing around with it my tentative review is that Windows 7 doesn't completely suck. Then again I've been making awesome Doug upgrades as I've gone along.

Geocities is closing down today - Not surprising but sad nonetheless. My first webpage was on geocities. I was eight.

Facebook and Google want to translate the internet - One's going with people, the other with machine. Can I referee the grudge match?

NASA crashed the LCROSS spacecraft into the moon to see if it could kick up water - Am I the only one that is picturing a bad Sci-Fi movie coming out of this where due to human intervention the moon gets knocked off course, and they have to use nuclear explosions to put it back on course? Just me?

32 planets discovered outside of our solar system - First, thirty-two seems like an awful lot to come across all at once. It must have been a cornucopia of planets just sitting there. Second, I don't care at all about these planets (unless aliens are involved) until Pluto is restored.

Official Announcement: Due to a couple recent events, I'll be touching base with all the teams about updating all the security, communication, and computer systems we currently have installed. I've finished the code, but it needs some testing before installation. At that time, I'll be heading to all your HQs to install it. It's shouldn't take long; at most a couple of days to make sure everything is up and running as it should be. I'll email team leaders later in the week for good dates for me to head in their direction. I have to do something more with my time. I lost the signal of that transmission somewhere in Manila.

Minor Official Announcement: Alright so the new chat client is ready to officially be used by everyone. You should have gotten an email with download instructions if you want to use it. It doesn't have a name yet though. Whoever thinks of the best name gets the prize of having named it.

Very Less Than Important Announcement: That new kid is right. Star Wars Chopsticks are almost the coolest thing ever. I once got a plastic lightsaber spoon out of a cereal box. The spoon bit was clear and when you hit a button on the side it glowed. That was the coolest thing ever until my mom threw it out.

Unofficial Announcement: NO TOUCHING IN THE TECH ROOM. Whoever unplugged my mini-fridge and drank all my Red Bull is going to find that the Danger Room has been programmed to very much NOT like them.
